Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you take the quiz, we collect:

• First names you and your partner provide
• Your quiz answers (numeric values 1–5 per question)
• Optional short thoughts you attach to individual questions
• A randomly generated session ID linking both partners' responses
• Your approximate timezone (used to display submission times)

We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, or account information through the quiz itself. If you choose to unlock your full results, Stripe collects your email address at checkout in order to issue your receipt. That email is visible to us in our Stripe dashboard but is not stored in our application database, used for marketing, or shared with anyone else.

When you submit the quiz, we also record a consent timestamp and the version of the Terms and Privacy Policy in effect at that time, so we have a clear record of what you agreed to.

How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

• Compute your compatibility results and display them to you and your partner
• Operate, maintain, and secure the service (including debugging, fraud prevention, and abuse detection)
• Understand product usage in aggregate through analytics (see Analytics & session recording above)
• Comply with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests from authorities or maintaining records related to payments

We do not sell, share, or monetize your quiz data, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing.

Service providers

We share limited data with service providers who help us operate the service, including:

• Stripe — processes payments and stores billing information such as your email address and card details on our behalf
• PostHog — provides product analytics and session recording (see Analytics & session recording below)
• Render — hosts the application and handles incoming web requests
• MongoDB Atlas — hosts the database where quiz sessions are stored

These providers are contractually limited to using your data only to provide services to us and may not use it for their own purposes.

Analytics & session recording

We use PostHog to understand how people use this site. PostHog may collect:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• Clicks, scrolls, and general interaction patterns
• Browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/region level)
• Session recordings — screen-level replays of your visit to help us identify usability issues

Quiz answer inputs are masked in session recordings and are not visible to us. PostHog data is used only to improve the product and is not sold or shared with advertisers. PostHog sets a cookie to identify your session across pages. See PostHog's privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data: stripe.com/privacy.

Data retention

Quiz sessions are automatically deleted 180 days after creation. If you unlock your full results, the 180-day clock restarts from the date of purchase. Your answers disappear on their own with no action needed on your part.

Security

Data is stored in a database hosted by MongoDB Atlas, with access limited to authorized application processes. We use industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) and encryption at rest. Sessions are identified by random IDs that are not guessable.

Children

This service is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it promptly.

Geographic scope

This service is intended for residents of the United States. It is not directed at users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or other jurisdictions outside the United States. We do not knowingly collect or process personal information from individuals outside the United States. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it.
